There’s not a ton of new footage in the newest teaser for Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings, which is titled “Need,” but it’s worth watching for several reasons. One is that every little glimpse of this movie makes it look incredibly appealing. Another is Awkwafina’s perfect delivery of the first line in the teaser—and Simu Liu’s shrug in response. Who can say where superheroes’ shirts go?
Previous trailers for Shang-Chi have put the spotlight on the action and the mystical side of the story, and the last trailer teased the return of Abomination, a villain last seen in 2008’s The Incredible Hulk, a movie arguably best forgotten. The latest teaser, though, is a condensed version of the first two, with terse dialogue about fathers and families set over sleek action, and a focus on how Shang-Chi (Liu) wanted to live a normal life out from under his father’s shadow. From that first shrug to the fight on the bus, this is about style. And also about that underwater dragon—whichever Marvel dragon it may turn out to be.
Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings lands in theaters on September 3rd, which is somehow just over a month away.

In the Watchful City
I have skipped a lot of Marvel movies, but I definitely want to see this one.
And Awkwafina! Dang! That girl is going places.
I vehemently disagree. Norton’s Banner was my favorite hulk.
